Day Trek: A Peak for All

Monadnock is just high enough and just difficult enough that for many
people it is adventure, an achievement, something worth boasting about.
It is not so big, though, that you have to spend the next few days in
pain.

A man and his mountain: A love affair with Monadnock

He had climbed the 3,165-foot peak every day for eight years; 2,850
days in a row. Every day, through every snowstorm and every summer
burn.

The streak made him a favorite son around town, and a
curiosity among New England hikers. He was Larry Davis, the guy who
climbs the mountain every day. One hiker kissed his boots on the trail.
