How To Have a Picnic In Your Backyard Without A Lot of Planning and Effort

Go to Philbrick’s Fresh Market. (Two locations: North Hampton and Portsmouth.)

Wander around and look at food! Pick some food! Buy it. (Chat with friends you run into.) Go home. Eat it on a blanket in sunshine!

That’s what we did yesterday for Mother’s Day, my daughters and I. We had a baguette, some delicious herbed cheese, salami, sesame green beans (cold, but lightly cooked), assorted fruit, bourbon marinated cooked steak tips, Thai style potato chips, ginger ale, and chocolate.

Bon appetit!
